Guidance

The vision of the Belle Terre Elementary School Counseling Program is to ensure that every student reaches their full academic potential, develops resilience, and is prepared for future college and career opportunities. We are dedicated to empowering students to thrive academically and socially by equipping them with the essential skills to become lifelong learners and responsible, engaged citizens.

Our mission is to foster a positive school climate that promotes resilience through classroom lessons, small group sessions, and short term individual counseling. Collaborating with educators, parents, guardians, and the community, our school counselors advocate for an environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, and college and career development of every student, empowering them for lifelong success.

Our school counselors provide services to students in a variety of ways. Here are some things they do to support students at BTES:

  • Individual counseling: brief, solution-focused counseling on personal, academic, and social issues.
  • Group counseling: topics vary and may include conflict resolution, test taking strategies, friendship, etc.
  • Classroom Guidance Lessons: topics vary and may include resiliency traits, test taking strategies, community circles
  • Referrals to outside agencies for support services, such as mental health therapy and social work services.
