Celebrate Literacy WeekThe Florida Department of Education has designated January 24–28 as Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! This week is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading, and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.

The 2022 Celebrate Literacy Week theme is Launch Into Literacy, Blast Off Into New Worlds! With this theme in mind, Flagler Schools will be reading books with a variety of settings to support the New Worlds Reading Initiative program released this fall. 

Belle Terre Elementary School will celebrate literacy with these fun daily activities:

Launch Into LiteracyMonday, January 24th
  • Classroom door decorating contest begins.
  • Book trivia on the morning announcements begins.
  • Bedtime stories begin.

Tuesday, January 25th
  • Mystery Books - Choose a book based on the first sentence of the book
  • Book Mosaic Image - Add a sticker to the picture for eachbook read

Wednesday, January 26th

  • Get Caught Reading! Win a prize.
  • Name That Lego Book Cover - Which class can get them all?

Thursday, January 27th
  • D.E.A.R. - Drop Everything and Read! 20 minutes.

Friday, January 28th
  • Team Up with a Good Book! - Wear your favorite team jersey and bring your favorite book.

Daily Activities for the Entire Week:
  • Classroom door decorating contest with "favorite book cover" theme.
  • Book trivia on the morning announcements.
