4-H Public Speaking Contest: 2023

4-H Public Speaking Contest: 2023
Flagler Schools

4th and 5th-grade students from each of our elementary schools will present speeches at the Florida 4-H Public Speaking Flagler County Contest. The contest will be held on Thursday, April 27, 6:00 pm, at the Flagler County Extension Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

About the Contest

The Florida 4-H Public Speaking Flagler County Contest is held annually and is open to all 4th and 5th-grade students. The event is part of the Public Speaking School Enrichment Program, coordinated by the county's 4-H Cooperative Extension Office, in partnership with Florida Power & Light Company. The Public Speaking School Enrichment Program gives students the opportunity to embrace the 4-H “Learn by Doing” motto as they develop critical thinking, self-motivation, and communication life skills.

Starting at the classroom level, students create a three to five-minute speech on a topic of their choice. The top three speakers from each class then participate in a school-level competition, and the first-place speakers from each school move on to present their speeches at the county contest.
